Today we looked at how to show posession of something by adding an 's at the end of a person's name.
What was the tricky instance for adding 's to the end of someone's name? How do we solve this problem?
Use the 's we learned about today to write a sentence about each of the following:
my shoes
a cat
your friend
a computer
worms
snow
a beach
You should have 7 sentences in total. Write one final sentence of your choice using your name in it.

Remember we are working on a skill that has the noun in the sentence posessing something. Look for the thing that is being 'posessed' and who is posessing it to figure out where to put the 's.
DeleteThe tricky part was e.g. if it said "My shoes" its hard to put the 's on a person's name.
ReplyDeleteWe solve this problem by saying "Spencer's friend" even thought Spencer not doing it his friend is.

If someone's name ends with an "s" Ex.James would turn to James' instead of James's. The apostrophe would be right after the persons name (Lewis') only if their name ended with an s. If not there would be an 's if the last letter of their name is not an s.

ReplyDeleteThe tricky instance for adding 's to the end of someone's name was when they had a "s" at the end of their name (ex. Thomas). We solve this by putting only an apostrophe at the end of their name (ex. Thomas').

If the end of a person's name ends with an s (Lucas) you would put an ' at the end of the person's name to show that something belongs to them.
e.g Nicholas's shoe was untied would be wrong
