Rugby

Eights, here is a 5 minute video that gives you the basics of the game of rugby. Watch it and send me the answers to the following questions on our blog.
1. What is a grubber?
2. What is an up and under?
3. Name the 3 ways to score points in rugby and tell me the value of each way.

I talked with many of you about the opportunity to play on the Stoney Creek team and the coach will be dropping off some forms for interested students.
Practices for U14 begin Wednesday may 23 at Saltfleet High School
Time 6:30 – 8pm.
This is a great place to learn about the game, how to play it and how to tackle properly. The other players that you would play with will have the same skill level as you do now. You will all be learning together!

    1. The grubber is a type of kick where you kick the ball past the defenders for your other players to chase.

    2. The up and under is another type of kick, which launches the ball high and your teammates try to regain possession of the ball before the other team.

    3. A try is when the player runs the ball on or over the opposing teams goal line and is worth 5 points. After a try your aloud to make a conversion, for which you have to do a place kick or a drop kick. it is worth 2 points. Last way is through a drop goal, giving you 3 points.

1)A grubber is when you kick the ball past the defenders. Then your players(that are running near)can chase on to it.

2)An up and under launches the ball high into the air so that your players can run onto and try to regain possession. They can do this by jumping for the catch or getting it before the opposite team does.

    3)
    1. A try. The player runs to ball over/on the opposite team's goal line and is worth 5 points.

    2. A conversion. After scoring a try, you are given chance for a conversion, where the player kicks the ball through the upright from either a place kick or drop kick. This is worth 2 points.

    3. A drop goal. A player kicks the ball through the upright using a drop kick. If the goal is successful then your team gains 3 points.

A grubber is when you kick the ball past a defender or defenders for your running players to chase down.

An up and under is when you kick the ball very high in an atempt for your players to gain posession of the ball by jumping for it or collecting it before the opponents do.

A tri, and it's worth five points, a conversion, which is worth two points, a drop goal, which is worth 3 points, a penalty which is also worth 3 points.

the grubber is the person who kicks the ball past the defenders for your running players to chace on to.

the up and under is a kick that launches the ball high for your players to run on to, to regain posseshion by jumping for the catch or collecting it before the opisition does.

one way to score points in rugby would be to do a drop goal. if it is succesfull your awarded 3 points. a second way to scoring a point would be a penlty kick, if successful your team earns 3 points. a third way to score a goal in rugby is conversion. thats when they score a point by the first way, and they get a chance to kick it through the goal post's.

  8. 1: a grubber is when you kick the ball past the defenders for the running players to chase you down the field
2:up and under is when the player launches the ball high for your team mates to run for and to regain pasetion, then kick it or just catch it and run for it before the opposing team gets it.

way #1: tri grounds the ball over the opposing teams goal line= 5 points

way #2: after you score a tri, you can make a conversion = drop kick = 2 points.

    way#3: drop goal = 3 points.

    1. What is a grubber?

The Grubber kick is a type of kick in various codes of football with an oval ball which results in the ball moving erratically along the ground. The point of the grubber is to make the ball roll and tumble across the ground, making it hard for the defending team to pick up the ball without causing a knock on. It’s properties make it hard to handle, giving it both high and low bouncing. This is an attacking type of kick. You must kick the ball past the defenders for your running players to chase.

    2. What is and up and under?

Up and under kick launches the ball high for your players to run on to regain the ball by jumping to catch it. It is a high short punt onto or behind the defending team is a useful tactic both for attacking and defending.

3.Name the 3 ways to score points in rugby and tell me the value of each way.

If you cross your opponent's try-line and place the ball on the floor with downward pressure then you have scored a 5 point try. After a try has been scored there is the possibility of a conversion being kicked over the posts to earn a further 2 points. Other than that, if awarded, penalties may be kicked for 3 points from the point that the penalty occurred (only normally kick-able from in the opponent's half). Drop kicks maybe taken at any time during the game. If you score a drop goal you will earn 3 points.
