ReplyDelete1. We can try to use as much recycled water as we can for any purpose besides drinking, washing, and such. Things like watering the garden or washing a car.
2. Not use as much. So for instance, instead of leaving the tap on when you brush your teeth, turn it off so you don't waste water. Also, when you have a shower, be quick so you don't waste a lot of water.
3.Only wash your clothes when you have a full load as washing machines require quite a bit of water to wash your clothes so washing as few times as necessary is key.

ReplyDeleteBecause, referring to both questions, we need to conserve enough fresh water for every human and humans in the future to last a lifetime
1. Don't pollute our fresh water
2. Don't waste our fresh water
3. Do make sure the water your conserving is purified for other people when they need it

ReplyDeleteBecause the human population is growing very quickly and humans(along with plants and other living things)need water to survive. If we stop looking for new sources of fresh water and waste our sources now available, nothing will be able to live.Converting dirty water into clean water is extremely difficult, costly, and time consuming so that makes it even more important that we use our water carefully. Overall, it is very important to find new sources of fresh water and to conserve the sources now available because all living things require fresh water to live, and if humans want to sustain earth, then we must take care of our water sources.
Explain at least 3 ways that we can help conserve our current sources of fresh water.
1)When using a dishwasher, use it only to wash full loads, and use the shortest cycle possible. Since every load in the dishwasher requires a lot of water, filling up the dishwasher to the max. once will not use as much water as doing multiple smaller loads. Also, the longer the cycle, the more water used so a smaller cycle mean less water wasted.
2)Always turn taps off tightly so they do not drip and repair any leaks in and around your taps. Only one leak can waste several thousand liters of water per year so making sure your taps are not leaking and are turned off tightly can help prevent wasting so much water.
3)Never let water run continuously. While hand washing the dishes, brushing your teeth or any other activity, only use the water when needed. Not while your putting toothpaste on your brush or putting soap on the sponge since you are not using the water.

ReplyDeleteIt's important to find new sources of fresh water because the population is always growing, and we need water to survive. Also, water is a non-renewable resource, meaning if it gets ruined, it can't be replaced. It's important to conserve the sources available because demands are increasing every year while the resource is become more and more limited. Water is too precious to be wasted or taken advantage of, so as humans we should make sure to save this resource as its our key to life.
There are tons of ways to conserve water, but these are 3 of the best that i found:
1. Run your clothes washer and dishwasher only when they are full. You can save up to 1,000 gallons a month.
2.Use a water-efficient showerhead. They're inexpensive, easy to install, and can save you up to 750 gallons a month, and try to shorten your shower too, as that can add up to saving alot of water!
3. When brushing your teeth, turn the water off while you are actually brushing instead of running it continuously. Then use the tap again for rinsing and use short bursts of water for cleaning your brush. (This saves about 80% of the water normally used.)
1.When washing dishes by hand, don't let the water run while rinsing. Fill one sink with wash water and the other with rinse water.
ReplyDelete2.Adjust sprinklers so only your lawn is watered and not the house, sidewalk, or street.
3.Wash your fruits and vegetables in a pan of water instead of running water from the tap.
it is important to find new sources because the population of humans just keep getting bigger and bigger and we need fresh drinkable water to survive. it is stated you can only live around 4 days without water and there is only 0.6% of fresh drinkable water. so once we run out of that, we kill hundreds of millions of people. so we need to save our water !

ReplyDeleteIt is important to find new sources of water and conserve the sources we have now because the amount of liquid freshwater we have is very little. It is less than one percent of the world’s water supply. In addition, the water that we do have is extremely polluted and must go through several processes before it is entirely drinkable. If we do not pollute the water, we abuse this supply by overusing it for the simplest reasons. For example, you waste large quantities of water when you take long hot showers or water your lawn. If we continue to waste the sources of drinkable water we have now, we will need to find new sources in the near future because if we use up or damage the water too much, we may run out of potable water, which would be a huge issue since all living things require water to live.
How You Can Conserve Water:
•Install a water-saving shower head. Older heads use 5-10 gallons per minute. All new fixtures use approximately 2.5 gallons per minute and offer equal water coverage and force.
•Wash only full loads in the dishwasher. Use the "light wash" setting when possible.
•Consider buying a high efficiency dishwasher that will save water and energy. Some water districts and homeowners associations give discounts for this.
•Keep a jug of chilled water in the refrigerator for drinking to avoid running the water until it gets cold.
•Wash only full loads of clothing.
•Hand wash single garments.
•When washing dishes by hand, don't let the water run while rinsing. Fill one sink with wash water and the other with rinse water.
•Some refrigerators, air conditioners and ice-makers are cooled with wasted flows of water. Consider upgrading with air-cooled appliances for significant water savings.
•Adjust sprinklers so only your lawn is watered and not the house, sidewalk, or street

ReplyDelete1. Dont waste bottld water. Dont just drink half of it and throw the rest away, drink all of it.
2. Take quick showers. Dont fool around in the shower and waste time and water.
3. run your dish washer or clothes washer only when it is full. You can save alot of water by doing that.
1. Turn off all water appliances when you are not using them
ReplyDelete2. Wash only full loads of clothing, instead of washing tiny loads at a time (wash in cool water instead of hot water)
3. Water plants with left over water from hand washing dishes, other then filling up a bucket of new water

ReplyDeleteIt is important to find new sources of fresh water because we (humans) cannot live without water and we use a lot of it. It is important to conserve our fresh water because fresh water is part of our daily lives. For example, we need it to shower, we need it to wash our hands, and quite simply, we need to consume it. Without fresh water we are nothing.
Three ways to help conserve our water are: while your brushing your teeth, turn off the tap. When you are showering and using soap, turn off the water and most importantly, DON'T POLLUTE IT.
'What do you think about this?' question.
The two different perspectives are, the governments, and the people. The governments think that giving all humans the right to water, would create much more problems. The people on the other hand, would like this. We should all care about eachother and be one whole. We are fortunate and we must help the less fortunate. As the saying goes, what's mine, is yours.
Daniel i couldn't write my homework so i just typed it out hope that's okay
ReplyDelete1a) glaciers, and ice caps (b)Clouds, steam (c)oceans,swamps (d)lakes,marshes
2)it must be treated because if there is sediment or bacteria or even living organism's in the water it can make you sick or even kill you.
4) People extract the water from other parts of the world for their country because they have taken too much water from their own lakes, oceans and rivers, swamps, marshes and bogs so they resort to taking other countries water and that country cant do anything because they are so poor. With water shortages in my life i wouldn't have the large supply of water that i am use to just turning on my tap or going to the store and getting bottled water and eventually i would probably get sick and dehydrated from lack of water supply, i wouldn't be able to go swimming because the short supply on water and all the activities like that.
Daniel
ReplyDeleteif they weren't finding new supply's eventually people would have absorbed all of the fresh water in the world and we would run out of clean water and resort to having to drink the un-purified water and people would get really sick from the dirty water that they would have to drink. simple ways that we could adjust in our daily life.
When washing dishes by hand, don't let the water run while rinsing. Fill one sink with wash water and the other with rinse water.
Shorten your shower by a minute or two and you'll save up to 150 gallons per month
Designate one glass for your drinking water each day or refill a water bottle. This will cut down on the number of glasses to wash.
Turn off the water while brushing your teeth

ReplyDeleteIt is important to conserve fresh water because it is the closest to water found in a potable state. And until we discover a way to make mass amounts (Such as the oceans) of water Fresh or potable at one time, we will have a limited source of fresh water.
1) By cutting back pollution by companies or organizations. 2) By investing more research into the study of water purification processes 3) By working as a global community to conserve fresh water.
On the 'What do you think about this' article, I wish to make my stance clear. I simply love how you singled out Canada, and tried to make the government seem inhumane for denying it. If water was a right, wither the price on it would significantly drop, or it would be free as a whole. And, let's face it, the global economy is pretty bad right now. Cutting more money we could gain would only hurt us.
And if you propose there still be a price on water; Freedom is also a basic human right. As is free speech. Would you like to pay each month not to be taken to jail? Or pay to speak your mind?
Water, as a right. What is to stop me from walking down the street one day, thinking 'Hey, I'm thirsty', kicking in your door, snatching a glass from your cupboards, and taking my fill of water before I leave? It is a right, entitling me to do what I can to make sure I get enough of it as befits me rights.
Anyhow, I suppose that is one position. The other would be the one you presented; Water is necessarily to survive, so it should be made readily accessible to the public for health and sanitary reasons.

ReplyDeleteWhy is it important to find new sources of fresh water and to conserve the sources now available?
Water is essential to live. Without it we could not survive. However, people don’t treat like a precious source. Most people think it is a supply that we will always have. Well, those people are wrong! Fresh water is in limited supply. Our water supply is finite, which means that we do not have an endless supply. We only have the water that we have now. In fact, 97% of all the water on the earth is salt water which is not suitable for drinking (unfit for human consumption) because it could lead to sickness. Of course, we could always clean/filter the water, but desalination is an expensive process that most nations can't really afford. Only two percent of all the water is fresh water, and only about one percent is available for drinking water. Sources of fresh water are quickly being polluted or used up by industries. Many underdeveloped nations have very little access to fresh water, especially those in the Middle east or Africa, where there are dry deserts. Unlike us, these people would treat water like gold. Most of the freshwater is actually locked in the ice caps which is also almost impossible to access leading to shortage of fresh water. Therefore, keeping in mind we only have a limited supply we must find new sources and conserve the ones we currently have because potable water is becoming scarce. That is why it is important to find new sources of fresh water before we are left with no more of it. There are ways to conserve fresh water… just look right in front of you!
Explain at least 3 ways that we can help conserve our current sources of fresh water:
• Take shorter showers.
• Close the tap at once after using the water.
• While brushing, only open the tap when you need water.
• Do not over-water plants.
• Wash your car less frequently and use smaller amounts of water
• Fix leaky pipes immediately upon discovery.
• Slow the flow of water to consume less water, using less energy.
• Operate the washing machine only when you have a full load of laundry.
• Don’t throw towels in the laundry after only one use.
• Run your dishwasher only when you have a full load.
Re read the post on this blog called, "What do you think about this?" (from Monday April 2, 2012) Explain 2 different perspectives on this issue:
1. The perspective of Craig and Mark Kielburger. Since they wrote this article, they were able to express there ideas and point of view through it. We have realized that they think every human has a right to clean water and so we should do something to help them get their rights as people. “The obligation to respect means the government can’t take action or make a policy that interferes with its citizens’ right to water. So, for example, no one can be denied water for drinking and sanitation because they cannot afford water fees or taxes.” says Craig and Mark Kielburger. They believe it is unfair that about 3.5 million people die every year just because they have no access to clean water due to the conditions they live in. Since we have solutions they feel it is necessary to help those less fortunate.
2. However, there were some people that disagreed to give all humans the right to have clean and fresh water. For over a decade, Canadian governments have opposed the recognition of water as a basic human right. Canada has failed to provide clean and fresh water for the First Nations which is in their own country. This leads me to believe that Canada did not see the seriousness of having fresh water as a important source. Therefore, they most likely didn’t agree with that right for humans because they didn’t see it was essential for the lives of humans. Contaminated water hasn’t been a known problem in Canada, therefore, they didn’t feel as though that right is necessary.
Because of pollution...it's rapidly depleting available fresh water...even the areas in hard to reach places...due to acid rain...the more we pollute our water the more chemicals are needed and processes to treat it to make it usable.

2.Recycle
3.Make less factories so doesn't create smoke which goes into our atmosphere

Because humans are growing every second and we need water to survive. It is really important because it is extremely difficult to convert all our dirty water into clean so we need to find new sources to keep our world as clean as possible.

Because more and more humans are being born and we need the water to survive. we need to find fresh water because the fresh water is being polluted and we cant drink polluted water or salt water because it has bacteria and it will make you sick, it also takes a long time to filter/clean to make it drinkable. we need to conserve water because if we run out we cant survive and people in deserts/less fortunate countries dont have water at all or its dirty and not drinkable.

I think it is important to find new sources of and to conserve fresh water because if we keep using as much as we currently are, we wont have any left for future needs. Also we barely have enough fresh water now availible to us now so we should use as less of it as possible.
Three easy ways to conserve water would be: 1 Shorten your shower by a minute or two and you'll save up to 150 gallons per month. 2:
Turn off the water while brushing your teeth and save 25 gallons a month. and a third easy way would be to look for products bearing the EPA WaterSense Label for items that been certified to save 20% or more without sacrificing performance.

1.dont pollute
2.be wise about how much water you use
3.always be careful with your amount of garbage you throw away (garbage is very bad for the earth)

#1 I think its important to find new sources of fresh water and to conserve the soucres now available because when your washing dishes by hand letting the water run while rinsing its wasting all the fresh water.
#2 I think its important to find new sources of fresh water because when you run your dishwasher you need to make sure its full because if you run another dishwasher for only a few dishes then your wasting alot of wate.
#3 I think its important to find new sources of fresh water because when your showering for a long time, its wasting alot of water that can be used by others, so shorten your showering time so you have enough fresh water for your family to shower in.
1.watch what you throw out(garbage)
ReplyDelete2.conserving your water now is better because its cleaner
3.freeze your water and melt it so it exspands

ReplyDeleteit is important to find new sources of fresh water and to conserve the sources available because if we keep abusing the water we have now and taking water from habitats then we will run out, we need to conserve by 1: using an appropriate amount of water (only using what you actually need) 2: dont let the water run 3: more reasonable loads of laundry (wear clothes twice or check if its not dirty, before putting it in the wash
"what do you think about this?"
perspective 1: that we have alot of this resource in our country and we should make it more equal by giving other countries fresher water that they can drink and so they dont get sick and die. water is a necessity and we need it. they do too. and they deserve fresh water like we have.
perspective 2: that we dont have enough of this resource to share. also that they shouldnt be approved for easy acessing fresh water because they dont have the taxes or fees to afford it.

ReplyDeleteWhy is it important to find new sources of fresh water and to conserve the sources now available?
It's important because if we keep using our fresh water sources and we don't conserve them, sooner or later we will only have polluted water that isn't drinkable or usable or we may just waste it all and not find any new sources to help us.

1. Take shorter showers.
2. Don't pollute water (litter etc.)
3. Use your dishwasher when it's completely full.

The two perspectives that I chose straight form the article are The Ambassodor and the UN's are one combined perspective. There is also Canada's perspective. But in my eyes, there is another perspective Mark and Craig Kielburger. The Ambassodor and UN's perspective is that water is a universal right. Canada's perspectiove is the complete opposite in which they believe that water IS NOT a basic human right. The Kielburger brother's perspective is that water is a human right which should no longer be cut off.

ReplyDeleteperspective 1 government: our perspective is that this is a huge issue for these children and people without water but it will cost us way to much money and time on this one issue when there are pently of bigger issues all over the world.
prespective children: they get fresh water so we should get fresh water aswell. were all humuns so, just because we dont have taxes or enough money we should get an qual water rights. theres enough fresh water to go around and be shared also to many peoples lives have been taken just because we dont have water.

ReplyDeletepersepective goverment: Goverments dont care about the issue because they think they cant do much about it. Fresh water would cost to much money and time to get to all the children that dont get it.
2 persepective children: Children around the world get fresh water, us children that dont should get an equal amount of fresh water to drink, theres alot of water to share for everyone. People should help us and let us live, not suffer from dirty water. & people that can help us should help, and not be stubborn.
